Painting and planting

Micah and I had fun last week painting and planting. Sarah sent us some paint so we went and work making beautiful art. Micah was really excited about his. Micah's is the painting on the right. Mine is the one on the left with a little help from Micah. Toward the end Micah said that his was a tree and was really excited about it. He wanted to hang it in his room and shows people when they come over.

We then decided to plant some carrots that my mom gave us. Unfortunately nothing else was the right season but when I friend came over she said our carrots might not make it either because we planted in the shade. Oh well, we will see. I don't really like carrots so it was more for fun anyway. She also told us that if we wanted to plant the pumpkin seeds we have they may be able to make it so we found a spot in the sun and we are going to try it. I will keep everyone posted on our progress. Micah was very excited to help with his rake and hoe. These are a few pictures of us planting carrots.

And a video. For some reason I have had a really hard time trying to watch video's on my computer so let me know if you can't open the video so I know if it is my computer or this blog.

Slacker

So I have been a big time slacker on blogging. Sorry. What have we been up to. Just normal summer stuff. Seeing friends and playing. I have been thinking a lot about what kind of car I want to get next. So many options and so many variables for me to get the best one. Space, fuel efficiency, reliability, safety. I was thinking about the Honda Odyssey but then the Mazda 5 caught my eye. Then the Kia has out a minivan that rated up there with Honda Odyssey for somewhat less money. I don't know. Any advice/help? Keep in mind that price of gas and I will probably have this car if/when we have a third kiddo.

Camping

A few months ago Jeff and I bought a new tent and we waited all summer to try it out. We went camping Sunday to Tuesday with some friends of ours and had a lot of fun. Micah along with Jim, Michelle's husband and their two kids had never been camping before. They seemed to all have a really good time.

Setting up. Notice the box between Jacob and Natasha. Micah had fun being put in it until Jacob let go and poor Micah fell straight back and hit his head on the ground. We were so lucky he didn't hit a rock. They didn't do that again but honestly Jacob and Natasha were really good with the younger kids and played with them and helped them a lot.

Micah and James just before an all out war for the tractor.

We went for a hike. Most of it was nice when it was shaded although there were a few spots it was pretty hot. The kids were troopers and did great.

The "river" that we hiked to. : )

A picture of the group minus Jeff and I who were taking the picture and Jim who stayed behind at the site to rest.

Micah and James show off their bellies.

A cute picture of the kids.

And another.

What was the best part about camping?

Micah was so tired on the way home but had a blast. I so want to go camping again soon.

I knew it

I was sure that I had taken some pictures with my mom when she was here but couldn't remember where or when. Suddenly I stumbled upon these pictures last night that had arranged themselves chronologically someplace I didn't see.

Here we are at the Rose Garden that is right down the street from us.

Micah wanted to show off his dunking skills for grammy. Or at least his hang time skills at another park/school near our home.

The park on another day.

Did anyone hear about National Night Out? It was kind of a big deal here in San Jose. This is a picture of Micah at the Gardener Center we went to. We got to go in a jumpy house, got free dinner, a free helmet for Micah, Micah got to have his fingerprints done by real police, we did chalk, Micah got a toothbrush and an airplane balloon made for him. Lots of fun.

I thought that these two pictures of Micah and Madeline were funny. I must admit that the first one Micah was just looking up and the picture was funny so we staged the second one. Still comical.

Lastly is from a church we do a play date at on some Thursday's during the summer. We have a really good time. They are so cute.

Micah's 2 year appointment

Micah did great at his 2 year appointment. He let the doctor do all his stuff and didn't even cry for the shot. He was focused on the sticker that he got to pick out. The doctor said that he looked very good. He weighed in at 33.7 pounds and his height was 35 3/4 inches. The doctor said that he was in the 95% for weight and 85% for height so I should cut out juice and just make sure he is eating healthy without too many additional non nutritious snacks since his weight is higher than his height. It is hard because I don't know where exactly he falls when I only see the doctor one time a year. He didn't sound overly concerned so I will just continue to watch the nutrition and push water more. I feel a little bad since water sounds a little boring. Does anyone know of any good drinks that are almost zero calories but that still have a little flavor to them that are somewhat healthy?

Micah's Birthday - Part 2

For part 2 of Micah's birthday we went to Chucky Cheese with Kevin, Luann and Ashley. We had a good time.

I almost regret that now Micah knows that these toys are supposed to move when you put money in them. Now at the mall he is always asking for "money, money" instead of just wanting to sit in them while they are stationary.

Micah absolutely loved skee ball.

And playing air hockey with Aunt Ashley was a hit as well. I think they tied at 6 to 6. Maybe the time ran out but it died before someone could score the final winning shot. (You have to get 7 to win.)

Micah is using the frisbee as a hat. I went to the dollar store with Micah to get some stuff for his party and he wanted some things. At first I said "no" then I thought it would be cool to let him get some stuff that he picked out. I ended up with a bag that he got to open on his birthday with all stuff he picked out himself. Cool.

Luann, Kevin and Ashley got Micah a Pig E Bank. It is really cool. It shows how much money you have in the bank on the side and it changes as you put money in. When you take money out it changes also. Pretty neat.

A good picture with Aunt Ashley.

My personal favorite picture of the night. Love it.
