Friday Night Fun

On Friday night Jeff came home and said that we should pack up and go camping. We didn't have anything done, didn't know where to go and it was 6:30 pm. I told Jeff that I didn't think we could do it on such short notice and he seemed a little bummed so I suggested we put up the tent in our backyard which eventually turned into Micah's tent in our den. First Kevin and Luann came over and we hung out then we made a fire in the fireplace in front of the tent and put on a movie to watch from our tent with sleeping bags and pillows inside. I thought Micah would eventually fall asleep but at 10:30 pm he was still wide away and fighting sleep so we put him to bed in his room. As the movie ended Jeff and I looked at the sleeping bags on the ground and decided to head back to our comfortable bed. It was still a fun night.

Cupcake Making

My friend Michelle and her husband Jim both had their birthdays recently. I had wanted to bake them a cake but it never happened so I baked some cupcakes for them on Friday. Micah helped with everything of course and they came out great. We also gave some to our neighbors Martha and Red. The only way I can keep baking is if I give the stuff away. Otherwise I will just eat all of it.

Baby Micah

Every so often Micah sees this baby chair in the garage and BEGS me to let him lay in it. I don't think he is hurting it so I usually let him. It is funny because he is so big and the chair almost bends back so far it touches the ground.

Chili Fiasco

We were having some friends over the other night and I decided to make chili for the first time. I got a reciepe from a friend a couple of years ago that I liked and decided to use that. I tried the chili just before I served it and thought it tasted a little salty but didn't think to much of it. After I got myself and Micah situated I grabbed my bowl of chili and had a big bite. It was salty. REALLY salty and I LOVE salt. Everyone else had already started eating and were to polite to say anything but I added water to mine and one other person did. The others just ate it like it was. Wow. After looking at the reciepe I had made it right but I think that they had accidentally put 3 tablespoons instead of 3 teaspoons of salt. Oh well, it was still good after adding water.

Miniature Golf

Last weekend we went out with some friends of ours, Laura and Freddy. I work with Laura at Willow Glen Middle School and we are pretty close. We went to Costa Rica together a few years ago to learn Spanish. Freddy also worked at Willow Glen for a little while. Now he works at anther school. They are both amazing with how much they do for kids. They are both really involved with the kids they teach and truely care about kids. Anyway, she and Freddy are getting married this summer and Jeff is performing the ceremony.

Laura is trying to get the hair tie out of her hair so that she can look beautiful. : ) She just had her hair done. It was really cold that night so we were all bundled up, although I think that Freddy won with the snow jacket. ; )

Micah didn't completely get the concept of miniature golf but he did really great. They gave him a small club and a ball to play for free. He hit the ball a little but mostly he was just a moving obstacle we had to get around on the course.

I didn't do very well. It seemed that I was a bit rusty on my golf skills.

Hmmm.... is Freddy checking the time? Come on Jeff, just hit the ball. : )

And we can't go anywhere in San Jose without running into just a few of our students. I just got back from the mall and saw 4 past and present students. I don't think I have ever been to our neighborhood mall without seeing at least one student I know.

Micah playing with the cigarette sand.
Micah being just plain cute.
Afterwards Jeff and Micah had to play skeeball while Laura and Freddy did pinball.
Then we went out for a coffee to warm up. And yes, we saw two more students there.

All in all a nice night out with friends.

Haircut resolution and Micah

The next morning Jeff and I woke up and decided to finish buzzing Micah's hair. I am not a huge fan of the look, but it is definitely growing on me and may show up again if it saves me $15-$20 at the barbers.

As for Micah, he is growing up way to fast. He is really a little boy now. Some of his favorite things to do right now are steal noses or other parts of faces from other people or from himself. He also likes to steal my purse and pull all of the cards out of it. I don't think that will be something that continues for long. He has been wanting to spin and make himself dizzy. As it gets warmer he is asking to get misted with water. He still loves to help me with whatever I am doing around the house whether it is cooking or cleaning or anything. He loves to pray. Sometimes he asks to pray 3 or 4 times at the dinner table. Should we put a limit on prayer? He has been "talking" more recently and Micah put his first two words together this week, "All done". Micah is in love with the word "no". Almost everything is "NO" but usually you can talk him into stuff. He is a bit stingy right now on hugs, kisses and high fives but as soon as he sees others doing these things he wants in on the action.

Don't try this at home

These first two pictures I took today and will use as a reference for the last picture. Micah thinks it is cool to take my plastic hair band and pretend that it is sunglasses. Silly boy. But the real thing I want you to notice is his hair. I haven't really liked his hair lately and so today I tried to put some gel in it to give it some style. It just looked messy and too long. I feel like I JUST got his hair cut and I really didn't want to spend any more money on hair cuts so I thought, "how hard could it be to cut his hair". I am sure we all know where this is going. But it got better... I thought "it would even be easier if I used the buzzer we have with the attachment to make all of the hair the same length". Well, the picture on the bottom makes his hair look better than it actually does. After the first couple of swipes with buzzer I will admit I began to panic just a bit. It was SHORT. It looks shorter in real life. I stopped with the buzzer and tried scissors to save it and I really just ended up his hair all different lengths all over. It really does look worse in real life. Sooo.... I think that tomorrow morning we may be taking Micah to get another hair cut to try to salvage the mess I made of his hair. Hmmm... sounds like a story I remember of my own parents cutting our hair. : ) At least he is only one year old so he doesn't care and yes, it will grow back.

Micah Jumping And Harmonica Playing

Fish

Micah and Jeff and I often walk down to Petco which is down the street from us. Last night Micah and I went on our own and I decided it was time for Micah to learn about responsibility so we bought a fish. Micah will have the job of feeding the fish two times a day, cleaning its water, and playing with it. Now for those of you who are laughing uncontrollably at this point I will admit that I am kidding about the whole Micah responsibility thing but we did get a fish! He is pretty, easy to take care of and will be fun for Micah, Jeff and I to look at. Today Micah wanted to share some stickers in with the fish so I told him that maybe we could share the stickers on the outside of the bowl. Micah seemed to think that was a good alternative. Micah then wanted to share the stickers with the cat which I allowed since the stickers were not to sticky.
I think that the name of this fish will be "Sushi". I have had two other Beta fish in the past with the same name so I guess he will be Sushi #3. I think we got a good fish.

A few more Micah

Micah really likes to get into his icecream. Have I mentioned that he loves sweets? I don't know who he gets that from... : )

This is Micah as he was saying "Cheeeeeesssssseeeee" I always think he looks like he is kind of in pain. We have a little fake camera that we got in a happy meal that clicks when you push the button and he loves to take pictures with it. He poses Jeff and I together so that he can take a picture.

Pam's shower and family fun

When we got to LA Susan and Dad had an Easter egg hunt for Micah. It was really nice of them to think of doing that. Caiden helped Micah find the eggs which was a good thing or else we would have been egg hunting for a really long time.

Micah had to show off his tatoos that we got at a birthday party last week.

Baby Kiya is getting so big so fast.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but Micah has a thing about bellies. He loves them. Since Pam's belly is huge Micah couldn't keep his hands off her belly. It was so cute and funny.

Hanging out and talking with family.

Caiden and Micah had fun wrestling on the bed with Jeff and Grandpa. It was fun to watch as well.

Pam's shower was fun.

Lots of people came.

Pam looked so cute and got lots of great stuff.

Before we headed home we went out to coffee with Mom and Jim.

It was a great visit as always.
