Update - 2

I thought i would post some pics and videos of what we are up to.

We went to the park the other night and had a lot of static on the slide.

Micah counted for me so I could go down the slide.

For my birthday Luann got me a bug vacuum along with some other cool things. Micah and I love to vacuum up bugs. Can you see the spider inside on this picture?

Micah wanted to dress up tonight in his Monkey suit. He then thought it would be fun to jump on the bed and sing a song.

And to tell Knock, Knock jokes with new made up words in them.

Micah update

So I was thinking it has been a while since I have posted what Micah is up to. I think it is hard once they are past a certain age because so much of what they do it new, but I will try to think of some specifics.

Micah is totally into "Knock, knock" jokes. He says, "Knock, knock". Me "who's there?" Micah "mama" or some other random thing. Me "mama who?" And we're done. There is no ending but he loves to do this over and over. We could do the mama one like 10 times in a row. I can hear him right now saying "knock, knock" as he is trying to fall asleep.

We are taking swim lessons. We did it last week and will continue on this week. Micah is the teacher's pet. She always does the demonstration with Micah and then goes on to the couple other kids. It was pretty cold last week so I am glad next week will be warmer. Michelle is taking the class with me and James has been miserable. He is so cold he just sits there and shivers. If he gets close to the side he crawls out and doesn't want to get back in. Poor kid. The class is actually just to get the kids used to the water more that actually swimming. We blow bubbles and play games and sing and kick around the pool. It is pretty fun.

Micah also really likes to pretend. He gets really into it if I use a doll or stuffed animal to play. I drew a face on one of my socks and he loves to walk around with it on his hand and pick up stuff. For a while he wanted Barbie to feed him food like grapes. He got such a kick out of it. I hope he won't want his future girl friends to feed him or they won't be around very long. (Yes we have a Barbie.... someone left it in my class at school and I brought it home). Along with the pretending he likes to pretend to cry or have me pretend to cry. He loves it when we go to the park to have Jeff push him off the slide then run to me sad so I can say "poor Micah" and he can cry then he keeps having Jeff do this over and over so he can cry. Funny kid.

Micah can count to three sort of. Sometime he says, "One, two, two" but he is getting better. He is talking a little more. This month he has really started to add words to his vocabulary although it is slow going. I think that he will start to talk a lot more in the next few months.

Micah is getting very independent. He wants to do a lot stuff on his own. Even if he is screaming in frustration he still doesn't want my help sometimes. This makes me frustrated but I know it is a part of growing up. If I help him sometimes he gets so mad and has to go back and start from the very beginning and do it all himself.

When we cross the street I make Micah hold my hand, of course. I told him that we have to be careful because a car could hit us if we were not careful. Now when we cross the street he looks and says "no car, no car, BOOM" and hits his head with his hand as he says boom. Good imagination.

Well, I am sure there is a ton I haven't said but those are a few I could think of. Until next time.

Chucky Cheese

So I have been wanting to take Micah for a while for a trip to Chucky Cheese, but Micah is always dead set against it. He always says, " NO". He really did not want to go and I don't even think he remembered what it was. So last night I ask him again and he says, "NO, park" over and over. I want to go to Chucky Cheese because I have left over tokens from last time and we only live two blocks away right now. After we move it will be about a 20 minute drive. I finally tell Micah that we will go to Chucky Cheese and if he doesn't like it we can leave and go to the park. He is not very happy. "Park, park, park". I feel like a bad mom for taking my child to Chucky Cheese but I go anyway. Micah went in and had a very good time. I asked him a couple times if he would like to leave and go to the park but he said "no". I will be interested to see if he says "no" again the next time I ask now that I know he knows what it is.

These are the only pictures I got. Micah really liked doing the face drawing one. I had to tell him no more.

In this first picture Micah was missing his nose so we tried again.

This was the second one and my favorite.

On this one I accidentally pushed the button twice and it took the picture before we were ready. Micah was SO upset and disappointed that he did not get in the picture. He watched as it drew me and kept waiting for his face to get drawn and it never was. He kept looking and pointing to himself and making this really sad sound. It was so pathetic and I had to try really hard not to show Micah I thought it was a little funny. I kept telling him that at least his hair was in the picture but he took little consolation from that.

We had to do one more to make up for the no Micah face one. You can tell he is a little upset and suspicious of the machine.

This was earlier in the day on our way to church. I thought is was cute that Micah was perfectly happy with his glasses on like this.

We're moving to San Jose

We are moving out of the house we are in now into a new house a little farther north but still in San Jose. E-mail me if you would like our new address. I will post some pics of the new place once we are settled a bit. We are supposed to be out of our current residence on July 10th.

It's nice to be out of work

Michelle and I have been hanging out quite a bit this week since I don't have to work. It has been nice.

Make sure you read the sign on this one. : ) "Goat rest area. Please no children".

Swimming, Chalk Art and Dancing on the Avenue

Yesterday Micah and I went swimming at Michelle's. We had a good time. I need to get more pictures of Michelle, and James escaped the camera as well.

Today we went to a community center that was doing chalk art and having a flea market. It was pretty fun. Micah was not really into the chalk but it was still fun to go and look. They had tons of chalk out for whoever wanted to come and draw.

This is our art.

Micah did more drawing on himself than the ground.

This evening we also went to Lincoln Ave for an event. It was fun and had lots of cool stuff for kids to do.

Micah had a blast playing with the flour in this bin.

When I asked Micah if he wanted me to take a picture of him holding his dog he said yes and ran over to stand next to the fish.

This is our new friend Keith who joined us for the dancing on the avenue evening. He then came over to watch a weird movie called "Fido". Keith just moved here from Atlanta. He is a cool guy.

Playin' in the Sun

When I got home from school today Micah and I were going to go swimming at Michelle's but Madeline was sick so we couldn't. Micah kept saying "Pool, pool" over and over so I decided to steal Chris's idea and make our own pool. Micah thought that was pretty cool that we could make our own pool. I also remembered seeing a video somewhere of having the kids land in a pool of water so we did that with the slide. I tried the big slide at first but Micah went down way to fast and actually slid out of the pool at the bottom onto the grass and scraped his bottom. The smaller slide worked perfect for him. Also you can see here that Micah is naked. Have I mentioned how much he likes being naked?

I have also found that using my phone for blogging works really well because the low resolution makes it really easy to upload. It is like 20 seconds to upload a video compared to 20 minutes for normal videos so I think I will keep using it. I wish the quality was a little better but oh well.

Last Day of School

Today was my last day of school. It will be nice to be off for the summer. Last night was the 8th grade promotion ceremony. Some years we get to have it in the HP Pavillion which is where the Shark's hockey team plays in San Jose. It is cool to have it there and the kids get to be on the big screen. Pretty sweet.

At the Park - Part 2

I have had a few questions/concerns from people about the "mud puddle" that I am letting Micah play in here. It is actually a sand pit at the park. You can turn on the water that runs down the cement slope into a sand puddle which is really fun to play in for the kids and pretty clean also. I think it drains out from the bottom so nothing grows in it.

At the park

Micah and I went to the park today to play. It was a little hot so we went to the park with water. We had fun. I forgot my camera at home so I took a couple of videos and pictures with my phone so the quality is not great.

Let's go fly a kite

On Thursday night I watched my friend Michelle's kids for a few hours while she and her husband went out with some friends for dinner. We walked to the park and hung out there for a while. We had fun flying the kite. We almost lost it once. Seriously within inches of being gone into the riverbed behind the field but it got caught on the very top of the baseball backing chain link fence right before the river bed. I climbed up the chain link and rescued the kite just in time.

Madeline did a great job flying the kite.
Micah and James were happy to watch.

We have to remind Micah often times to let go of James after the hug. I think Micah got a time out on this hug because he would not let James go and ended up knocking him down. Sometimes there can just be a little too much lovin'.

I wish that I would have got a picture of us walking to or from the park. I have a single jogger stroller so James sat in the seat, Micah sat on the foot rest and Madeline sat up top where the cup holder and handle bar is. It must have looked kind of funny with all three kids piled on top of the stroller but it worked well.

Feel the love

Jeff and I went into down town this week and went to the San Jose Museum of art. There were some interesting sights along the way.

Can you feel the love?

Made me want to stand next to him with my own sign saying "I'm a Christian and this guy's an idiot". I just don't get people like that.
