Micah - 10 months

Micah has gotten very good at throwing food over the side of his high chair. He loves to hear it hit the ground, look for it then watch as his parents pick it up. I don't love it so much. He also still loves to mash his food in his hands and on his face and hair. Good times.

One of Micah's favorite snack foods are rice cakes. He loves the satisfying crunch that they make when he bites into them. I almost sound like a commercial for rice cakes. : )

The Happs

Well not too much has been going on lately. School/work is still going strong. We get out on June 13th. I start my last classroom unit tomorrow. I always leave Sex Ed. as the last unit because I know that it will keep my students interest. Smart move on my part. : )

I have been listening to other moms talk about their babies quietly playing in their cribs in the morning giving the moms an extra 20 to 30 minutes of sleep. I thought that I would try this out so I attached two toys in Micah's crib that he could play with when he woke up. So at 3:20 am this morning I wake up to Micah wide awake playing with his toy in his crib and not sleeping. Hmmm.... bad move. The toys have now been removed from said crib.

The mother cat and kittens in my backyard have all been caught and removed. I hope they will all find homes but I am pretty sure the mom will not find a home. I also caught another cat that may not find a home. Kind of sad so I don't really want to think about it. I just hate trying to play with Micah on the grass and always trying to dodge cat poop.

We have been going to the park a lot enjoying the not so hot weather while it is still here. I like getting out of the house. It is easy to go crazy if I stay in the house too much.

Jeff is in exploration mode for planting a new church. Our church is going to keep Jeff on their payroll right now but he has the job of studying and preparing to plant a new church. We get assessed in October by the Covenant to see if we are a good fit to plant a church. We will see how it goes.

First Steps

Micah has been starting to take some steps this week. This is from earlier today but honestly he is already walking better by this evening. I am not sure if I am ready to have a 10 month old walker on my hands!

The Beach

This past weekend we went to the Beach just south of Santa Cruz with some folks from our church. It was a fun day of hanging out. We ate good food, went for a walk on the beach and collected shells. We actually brought the stoller on the beach and it worked pretty well.

When we were done at the beach we went back to one of our friends campground sites and ate more food and made smores. Yum! It was a fun day with friends.

Fishing for Kittens

We have had a mother cat have a litter of kittens for two years in a row in our ivy. I decided to try to catch the mom and kittens so that we will stop the cycle of cat multiplication. I was able to catch four of the kittens but the mom was too strong and busted out of my laundry hamper. Here is a picture of the trap set up and the four kittens I caught. I heard that they have cat traps at OSH for pretty cheap so I think I am going to go down and buy one that closes automatically so I don't have to pull the hamper closed on my own. This weekend I brought the kittens down to the humane society. I hope they will find homes.

Mother's Day a little late

We had fun hanging out with Kevin, Luann and Ashley for Mother's Day. I love going on a walk after dinner. Here are a few pictures from our fun day.

Let's play ball!!!

We had a great time hanging out with friends at a San Jose Giant's game. It was fun. They do a lot of kid games between innings and it is very family friendly.

These are our friends the Powers family, the Mauldwin family and the Gaborshky family.

Micah loved the churro.

What cuties.

Grandpa Kevin and grandma Luann had fun at the game also. Jeff thinks he is always the center of attention.

At the end of the game they let all of the kids run around the bases so Jeff had to take Micah out and run. Micah loved it. He had the biggest smile on his face.

Random Pictures Lately

In has been a little hot out lately so Micah and I went out and sat in a little pool my friend bought for Micah.

The Las Madres group I am a part of has been meeting in some of the women's homes but now because the weather is better we started meeting at the park. Here are a few pictures from this Friday. Aren't all of the 2006 babies cute? : )

Micah looks a little motherless in the next two pictures.

We went to the mall and Jeff had to get a picture with Hilary Clinton. She was really thin and has lost a lot of weight.

This is one of the toy statues in the mall play area. Micah liked playing there. He is growing up fast.

Entertainment

This weekend Jeff and I went to a cancer walk to raise money for fighting cancer. They had entertainment up on a stage and one was a jazzercise group. I found Jeff to be a bit more entertaining than the group up front. : )
