Things to do

Well, I am officially well on my way toward having ideas for things to do with Micah outside the house beside going to Safeway (grocery store), Target and the mall. When I think about it, having yearly passes to kid places will probably save me money in the long run because I won't spend as much as I do at Target and the mall when I go there.

I bought a pass to the Children's Museum today. It is pretty cool and I thought it had enough stuff for Micah to do at his age to make it worth buying it now. They actually were very friendly toward really little kids. I wasn't sure if they would have stuff for his age, but they did. They even had a whole section dedicated to kids under 4 years old. Some of Micah's favorites were 1. The water section - they even had things you could wear so you didn't get drenched while playing in the water. Pictured is the 0-4 year water section. I think they do this so really little kids don't get pushed out by the older kids. Probably a good idea. 2. Playing with ice 3. Playing in this sand table thing 4. Looking at himself in a multi-mirror (pictured). It seems like they change some activities regularly so that will be nice.
It is hard to get pictures with Micah because most of the time I am holding him, but I will work on it.

I have also included two pictures from the zoo when I went last time. I am going to buy a pass next time I go. I think it will be more fun when the park/ride side is open and Micah really likes animals and get so excited when he sees them. Our cat Al is like the highlight of his day. He just stares at Al like he is enthralled and gets so excited if Al gets close enough that Micah can yank on his fur, I mean pet him. : )
This first picture I had to included because if you look closely you can see a head poking out of the mom's belly. The head looks like it is almost as big as hers. : )

Micah loved the goats.

My friend Michelle gave me a great idea as well. Sometimes she said she would take her daughter Madeline to Petco and maybe pet some dogs if owners brought them in or an even better highlight would be if there were any dogs being washed in the back. Last week I went to the park to feed the ducks and there were signs all over that said "No feeding the birds". Darn it!!! Do ducks really count as birds? I really wanted to feed the ducks. As I was driving home dejected I saw Petco (2 blocks from our house) and stopped in. There were no dogs but we got to see chinchillas, mice, birds, fish. It was like a mini zoo and we didn't even have to pay to get in or for parking. Great idea! Does anyone else have fun/easy/cheap ideas to do with kids around Micah's age? Suggestions will be highly valued.

Awesome ideas, you will have tons of fun with Micah showing him all the different things in life. The pet store is a great idea at his age, and the park. Remember you don't always have to spend money to entertain and teach him at this age. Outside is great because its a new world for him to explore. The park, trees in the mountains, the beach, or just walks around the block. It also makes them sleep good.Have fun!

pet stores rock. ours frequently have animals wandering around. Always turtles. sometimes a dog. sometimes a wallaroo. it's a cool place.

our library has some great story times - they're usually pretty age specific and ours at least are very strict about letting babies only into the babies one. even if there are no story times sometimes they have some great toys for kids to play with in the kids section.

Anything else I can think of is better once they get a little older i think.
